Hey Class!
I definitely agree with Jane's and Sarah's comments. Although we say no judgement is key, it's human nature; it just comes out of us. Usually this is because we want to avoid tragedy and only watch out for ourselves because you never know what someone is capable of until you get to know them. Although they say Sal is the 'observer' in the group, I feel he might be undercover slick. Maybe toward the end of the book he is going to cause the most drama and Jamie said, possibly end up with Lee.
Have any of you seen the movie Prime with Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep? Well anyway, Uma is a patient of Meryl, a shrink, who tells her to "get messy in life, at least you know your living." Sal's life kinda gave me the vibe; he is always doing random stuff and it doesn't really matter the outcome cause he is just doing whatever he feels like doing at that moment. Of course he may feel bad afterwards, but that is what forgiveness and guilt is for. But like Chopra's Law of Karma, every choice has a reason but also a consequences whether it's good or bad.
Peace
