In response to what Ms. Siegel asked about being sad... if you think about it, the Beat generation seems to be a sad generation. They wander aimlessly, without much of a goal in life. They know too much... But then, they think too little, jumping from place to place and partying all the time without thinking much about the consequences. And simply their name, the "Beats" means that they are beat-down.

I think that you can really see a parallel between modern teenage culture and the Beat generation. Many teenagers know too much, but think too little. Many of us have no real goals in life, nothing clear-cut. We all look for different things that we don't quite understand. And we party. A lot. In the teenagers of the country, we can really see how the Beat generation influenced America. I'm not saying that we're a sad group of people, or beat-down... but yeah.
