So we all know Dean to be this lively character who screams Yes! at everything and is for the most part very happy, and then, he cries. Whats more, Sal has a random burst of raw anger at Sal, although mentally it is for his brother. Now as age creeps up on them, with most of their friends married and settled, Sal and Dean have yet to find their place in the world and that makes them both start to lose it, really lose it.

Something else I found interesting was how Sal used to pretend he had a scythe and cut down everything outside the car. I used to do something really similar, so it's nice to see a connection between myself and a near crazy person. Besides that, I believe Sal rode a horse over the montains in his little games so that he can overcome his obstacles, although now he's not doing a very good job of it, and Dean ran over them, because thats just what Dean does, run. There is only one way for Dean to stop running, and thats to run out of gas. Whether this means losing a purpose to "dig" the world around him or for his infected toe to catch up with him, either way, the ending for Dean won't be pretty.
