Originally when I started reading, I hoped that Sal would be able to find whatever he was searching for in life. It was obvious that, as in any character's case, he would stumble through obstacles. However, now he seems so hopeless and semi-off track. He's just like, doing this random girl, spending all his money on alcohol, getting stoned, etc. He's doing such stupid things and making such bad decisions, I can't help but hope he dies (a bit sadistic, but yes). He's like, at his aunt's place and eating a whole icebox, and he's mooching off a girl for food/money.

And, he mentions pretty stupid thoughts. I mean, I know we discussed how this is a monologue and all, and how this is just his single train of thought, no censorship, nothing... but some of it really is just ridiculously irrelevant. For example, when he spoke about how he was "necking" a girl during the whole train ride, all of the sudden, he's like, "she was nearsighted." Unless he's trying to suggest that he's ugly or she's stupid, then he's making some pretty unnecessary comments.
