I agree with what Jane said about how Sal could be more content staying where he is and not worrying about the future. I think the future is why he went to the West in the first place. with California being the Promise Land, he thought that if he went there, the rest of his life would just work out. The whole idea of being spontaneous and living in the moment was one of the ideas of the Beats, so i think Sal would be happier living like that, like he did when he first went to the West, hitchiking and everything.

PS i spent the whole rest if the class today trying to come up with something to say about the water bottle and all i came up with was: i can see through it..... but at least that's better than "pass"
