Hahaha. On the second page of the reading there is a description of the beats. So far I have only read those pages, but I felt the need to comment on how I couldn't stop thinking of Ms. Siegel and when I walked in this morning to class and she was bopping around in the dark with those awesome willy wonka sunglasses and that hat. With the description of the drugs and the alcoholic beverages I just imagined a bunch of "mad" dudes chilling and then Siegs in the corner rocking out. hahaha
Okay but in all seriousness... on the first page of the reading, Sal describes La as, "...the loneliest and most brutal of American cities..." (86). I find this sort of depressing after he hitchhiked his way all the way across the United States and once he gets to the place he was looking forward to the most, he seems disappointed and I feel bad for the guy. In the beginning of the book I did not like him as much and if I was not in a good mood right now I might be laughing at him being like, "hahaha stinks for you!!" But, I am feeling sympathetic. Do you guys feel bad for him? Or do you think he is taking enough out of the experience not to waste time pitying him?
